Profitable Growth: adesso Increases Revenue and Margins in 2025

IT service provider adesso has confirmed its preliminary figures for 2025, published in February, with the presentation of its consolidated financial statements. Despite a challenging general economic climate throughout the year, adesso increased revenue organically by 14 percent to 1.47 billion euros (previous year: 1.29 billion euros) . In doing so, the company achieved a 30 percent improvement in earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) to 123.6 million euros (previous year: 94.8 million euros). adesso has thus slightly exceeded the 2025 revenue forecast range and achieved an operating profit at the upper end of the forecast range.

As expected, a large proportion of the EBITDA was generated in the second half of the year: 85.7 million euros (previous year: 67.1 million euros), following 37.8 million euros in the first half of 2025. Among the reasons are calendar-related effects due to the distribution of available working days throughout the year. Profitability, measured by the EBITDA margin, rose to 8.4 percent in 2025 (previous year: 7.4 percent). This is primarily attributable to improved utilization of staff and license sales in the insurance product business. Consolidated profit after tax rose significantly to 17.5 million euros (previous year: 4.2 million euros).

Prudent Staff Expansion

In terms of staff expansion, adesso slowed the pace of growth in 2025 and will continue to follow this approach. The average number of full-time equivalents (FTE) rose by 8 percent to 10,841 in 2025, and was thus once again below revenue growth. By the end of the year, the number of FTE had increased by 9 percent compared with the previous year to 11,298. 40 percent of this growth was attributable to international operations, particularly the SmartShore locations where adesso's international delivery centers are based. Personnel costs per FTE rose moderately by 3 percent. In absolute terms, they rose by 11 percent to 986.5 million euros, a slower rate than revenue growth.

Public administration remains the largest segment; healthcare and utilities show the highest growth.

Demand for adesso's IT services remains high in the wake of businesses' digital transformation. As in the previous year, the public administration sector, with revenue well above 200 million euros, is the segment with the highest revenue, having grown by a further 11 percent. The cross-industry division, which encompasses several sectors, also recorded annual revenue of well over 200 million euros. The established core sectors, insurance and banks/financial services, recorded strong growth rates of 20 percent and 9 percent, respectively. The healthcare sector achieved the highest growth rate at 30 percent, followed by utilities at 24 percent. All four of these sectors achieved revenues exceeding 150 million euros each.

Growth Steps Planned for 2026

"The 2025 fiscal year demonstrated that we were able to achieve above-average organic growth even in a challenging environment, which is a gratifying proof of the resilience of our business model," says Mark Lohweber, CEO of adesso SE. "In 2026, the overall economic climate is expected to remain subdued. At the same time, digital transformation remains the key lever for companies and organizations to position themselves for the future. The use of artificial intelligence will become an even more decisive factor – for our clients as well as for ourselves."

For 2026, adesso anticipates sustained demand for its own comprehensive digitalization portfolio. The forecast anticipates revenue of between 1.6 and 1.7 billion euros. EBITDA is expected to grow to between 130 and 150 million euros.
