Swisscom is Switzerland’s leading telecommunications company and one of its leading IT companies. Swisscom’s international operations are concentrated mainly in Italy, where its subsidiary Fastweb is one of the biggest broadband providers. With it’s more than 20’000 employees (including Fastweb) Swisscom is one of the most sustainable companies in Switzerland and Europe.
Various technologies used for the management of Swisscom base transmission network – the entire transmission network including radio, satellite and submarine cable connections – had reached the end of their service lives. Furthermore, technologies and protocols no longer met the security requirements of Swisscom. For these reasons, this project aimed for a migration that addresses these issues.
Upon completion of the project, the application meets Swisscom’s latest security standards in addition to reducing maintenance costs, by means of a wide range of support options provided by the new technologies used. Also, developing new modules and extensions will now require less effort compared to the former version.
