Jugend hackt is a joint programme of the Open Knowledge Foundation Deutschland e.V. and mediale pfade.org e.V. The programme offers hackathons in many cities, regional labs and an online community. Young people always develop their own concepts, prototypes and ideas under the ‘Improve the World with Code’ banner. Voluntary mentors provide support. Participation in all activities is completely free of charge, travel expenses and accommodation will also be reimbursed. The extracurricular project has so far been financed by grants, one-off sponsorships and donations. Contributions from the Fellowship will help the team achieve better financial planning and independence.

The adesso insurance solutions company is the first member of the new Fellowship for sponsors of Jugend hackt
The Jugend hackt programme for young technology enthusiasts starts a Fellowship for sponsoring members. The Fellowship offers companies and individuals the opportunity to support the charitable initiative on a long-term basis. As the first company to sign the contract, adesso insurance solutions GmbH is the pioneering member of the Fellowship.

‘Motivation to support Jugend hackt varies’, says Sonja Fischbauer, who as Programme Manager at Jugend hackt heads the Fellowship. ‘The parents of participants – who flourish during our hackathons – want to give something back to us and adult developers – who would have wished for such a programme in their own youth – want to support the next generation.’
The adesso insurance solutions company already supported the Jugend hackt funding programme last year by co-financing the two city events in Cologne and Berlin.
‘Motivated junior staff are particularly needed in the IT sector. You can’t start investing in them soon enough. That’s why we made a conscious decision to support Jugend hackt because they motivate young people to code, inspire them with technology and give them the appropriate support’, says Melanie Hoppen, Head of Marketing and Communication at adesso insurance solutions. Besides providing general support within the framework of the Fellowship, the company will also be supporting the Cologne and Berlin city events this year.
