adesso launches talent coaching for women with head coach Martina Voss-Tecklenburg

Choosing a special team at adesso. As part of its initiative to support women in the IT industry, the IT service provider has launched its two-year coaching program ‘adesso eleven’. It gives participants targeted support for the development of their professional potential. The head coach of the adesso team is Martina Voss-Tecklenburg, who is also head coach of the German women’s national football team and ambassador for adesso’s ‘She for IT’ initiative.

adesso has set itself the goal of supporting and promoting women in the IT industry with the claim ‘She for IT’. It has implemented an attractive package of measures to increase the proportion of female IT specialists at the company over the coming years. The desired signal is that adesso recognises and supports strong women in IT careers, and offers them an environment that allows them to better combine their career with a family.

The ‘adesso eleven’ is a tailored coaching program initiated by the company that combines a range of training and staff development measures in a single package. Over the next two years, eleven IT experts will be chosen to participate in the high-potential program, which consists of training for their professional and personal development. The planned workshops focus on topics including motivation, goal-orientation, team building and communication. They will also address leadership competencies, along with teaching skills and creative coaching methods, to help establish women as role models and coaches for young talent and female colleagues in the IT industry.

The participants in ‘adesso eleven’ will work together to help develop and shape campaigns as part of the ‘She for IT’ initiative. They will support activities that offer girls and women insight into opportunities and careers in IT, and create encounters that allow them to share the coaching experience they have acquired.

On their endeavour the women will benefit from the experience of a successful coach: The ‘head coach’ of the ‘adesso eleven’ is Martina Voss-Tecklenburg, a former member of the German women's national football team and currently its head coach. Among other things, in a series of workshops she will teach the participants how professionals in the world of high-level sport approach coaching, motivation and team leadership. Martina Voss-Tecklenburg explains what makes her enthusiastic about the ‘She for IT’ initiative and her role in it: “I want to use my experience to give women the courage to pursue their strengths and passions. It is high time that we challenge conventional ideas. That includes women showing that they are just as good as their male counterparts in male-dominated careers.”

Dirk Pothen is adesso’s Executive Board member with responsibility for human resources, and is the management coordinator for the ‘She for IT’ initiative. He sees Martina Voss-Tecklenburg as an ideal patron for the new HR programme, which is part of the company’s social engagement: “Martina is a strong sparring partner for our IT experts. She authentically and personably demonstrates how, with assertiveness and confidence, women can be successful in traditionally male-dominated fields.”
